When the Western Michigan Broncos take on the 24th-ranked Illinois Fighting Illini this weekend there will be a lot of interesting matchups. All-American candidate Jordan White would present a good test for Illinois junior Terry Hawthorne, but the Broncos' coaching staff may not allow that to happen.
While the last four meetings between the two schools have been 'Duds', this year's matchup could see a reversal of fortune.
Each week DraftNasty.com spotlights one game around the country to highlight a specific team or player. This week, we are traveling to Tallahassee, Florida to see if Christian Ponder can lead the Seminoles back after a blowout loss in Norman to Oklahoma last Saturday. Additionally, we are covering the most intriguing matchup of the weekend in our opinion, an old fashioned backyard tussle between the Posey brothers in Columbus, Ohio.
When Eastern Michigan travels to Ann Arbor, Mich., on Saturday, there will be more than a few handshakes before the game. The team’s reunion with former Michigan defensive coordinator and current Eastern Michigan coach Ron English, making his first visit to Michigan Stadium since a 14-3 loss to Ohio State just two seasons ago, will have a sour ending for Michigan fans if it matches the last time a MAC opponent came to town. Last season, the Toledo Rockets showed up at "The Big House" and escaped with a 13-10 victory. The 107,267 fans in attendance left the game astonished and somber after the shocking outcome.
Trevor Vittatoe JR 6’2” 220 UTEP
-One of my favorite prospects for the 2011 NFL Draft. Mike Price’s best prospect at QB since Drew Bledsoe. In blowout loss to Texas last season completed 25 of 47 passes for 262 yards. In two years, the Redshirt Junior has a 58 TD/16 INT ratio and should only improve this season with the return of his top two wideouts. He played the entire 2008 season with a painful ankle injury and impressed the coaching staff with his toughness. His entire offensive line is comprised of juniors and seniors. Vittatoe has a howitzer for an arm and although his release is quirky, it is lightning quick. Better pro prospect than former Miner QB Jordan Palmer.
